Curriculum - PhD

Three areas of coursework will comprise the required courses for the OU PhD program with a nursing major. These areas include: Nursing Science Core (6), Research Methods Core (8), and Substantive (minor) Focus Area (3+, varies). OU dissertation requirements (12 credit minimum) also apply. Focus Area courses are courses which provide substantive support (topical, theoretical, or methodological) to the student’s research focus area. The courses are selected, with the guidance of the advisor and dissertation chair. Students may take courses in the College of Nursing, on the HSC campus, the Norman Campus or through NEXus.
