PhD Application Process

  1. Admission Application for OUHSC
  2. Application to the OU College of Nursing Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Program (This must be completed separately from the online application #1 above.)
  3. Admission Reference Form. Must submit 3 references, using this form.
  4. Pay all required application fees (may pay by credit card when you submit your OUHSC application online, #1 above.)
  5. Submit Official Transcripts (must be in sealed envelopes) from all institutions previously attended. Students at the OU-Norman campus must also submit their Norman transcripts in a sealed envelope. If enrolled in outstanding prerequisite courses, you must also submit a verification of enrollment outlining in-progress coursework.
  6. Check your application status to confirm receipt of application materials and posting of education coursework.
  7. Only complete applications will be reviewed by the College of Nursing after the application deadline has passed. The review process may take several weeks. You will be notified by mail regarding your admission status.

* The extended deadline was April 1, 2013; however, we will continue to accept applications until all seats are filled. Preference will be given to applicants who have completed and submitted all application materials by April 1, 2013.

Scholarship Opportunities

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, with support from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, seeks applicants for the Reynolds Predoctoral Scholarship award.   

The Reynolds Scholarship award is designed to support two years of full-time doctoral work for nurses committed to careers in academic geriatric nursing. The program awards a total of $100,000 (up to $50,000 per annum) to each selected Reynolds Scholar candidate enrolled full-time in the PhD in nursing program at the College of Nursing.
