Goals of the Family as Context in Clincal Genetics Project
- Links personal health status with gene function, family, and the
larger environment (social, culture, physical, health policy)
- Prepares learners to integrate biological knowledge of gene function
with family, environment, behavior, and psychosocial, ethical, and
legal knowledge
- Assesses the learner's knowledge, skills, and attitudes about genetics
based on the nationally recognized core competencies developed in 2001
by the National Coalition of Health Professional Education in Genetics
(NCHPEG)
- Assists learner to integrate genetic advances and clinical
care for patients and their families
