Current Students - Insurance
All students currently enrolled at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing must have comprehensive health insurance.

If You Already Have Coverage
If you have current coverage you can indicate this by completing the Waiver form. The Waiver form will be Section B of the Student Insurance Form that will be distributed at new student orientation. However, you may also complete the Waiver on-line.
To fill out that form you will submit your policy information, including policy number and a phone number where your coverage can be verified. You DO NOT need to submit a copy of your card. Our student insurance provider will then call your insurance provider to confirm your coverage. No further action will be needed on your part after you submit the completed the Waiver form.
Types of coverage that are acceptable:
- BlueCross, Aetna, or comparable companies (student coverage under a parent's or spouse's policy is acceptable)
- Indian Health Services, or comparable governmental services (must have verifiable coverage)
- Macori Student Insurance Plan
NEW: You can complete the Waiver form on-line.
If You Need to Purchase Health Insurance
You need to make arrangements ASAP to purchase coverage as it may take a while to obtain a complete policy. You may purchase coverage from any reliable insurance broker. The College recommends that students review individual policies offered through companies such as Blue Cross. Be sure to not only compare cost but the level of coverage offered, including possible exclusions to care (i.e., hospitalization, needle sticks, occupational incidents, prescription coverage, etc).
A student insurance policy is available through the University of Oklahoma using Macori, Inc. You may find information on their policy at the following website: http://www.macori.com/States/OK/UOHealthScienceCenter.asp.
Students are alerted to carefully review the schedule of benefits and list of exclusions before committing to this, or any, policy.
NEW: Needle stick coverage through Macori! This will cover the student while participating in clinical rotation as a student nurse. Your student health fee may not cover expenses associated with needle sticks. Coverage is only $17/year. You may enroll in this coverage at: http://www.macori.com/States/OK/UOHealthScienceCenter.asp.
Student Health Fee
Students are automatically assessed a Student Health Fee with their Tuition and Fees each semester. This fee provides your access to the Student Health Clinic at:
Oklahoma City Campus
900 NE 10th Street
(405) 271-4311 |
Tulsa Campus
1111 S. St. Louis Ave
(918) 619-4600 |
Services provided at this clinic are minimal and are not meant to replace your Healthcare Provider. Your comprehensive insurance coverage, whether through an outside vendor such as Blue Cross or through the Student Insurance plan with Macori, should be regarded as your primary coverage.
What To Do Now?
f you have coverage, just make sure that you will continue to be covered while in school (pay attention to age limits if you are covered as a student). If you are purchasing coverage you should start reviewing policies ASAP. Certain policies may take months to be finalized - so start early!
You must have coverage prior to enrollment. The College can not enroll you in coursework without a completed student health form. The student health form will be given to you at Orientation.
