Healthcare agencies are increasingly using electronic clinical information systems to document and retrieve information. This explosion of ubiquitous technology in the clinical environment where our graduates work will continue for some time to come. As nurse educators, we are striving to develop meaningful learning experiences whereby students may actually practice the use of the digital information technology they’ll be using in practice. To our knowledge, this project represents the first time a nursing education program has used an open-source product to accomplish this goal.
You are pioneers and we appreciate the opportunity to work with you on this important project. We’ll be adding more information to this website in the near future but for now we wanted to provide a portal with instructions on how to begin use of the system.
Professor Jane Hill, Dr. Susan Ellerbee and Professor Darlene Barnard-York are the faculty who will be working with Clinical II students this spring, 2009 semester for the initial implementation of the system.
