Welcome!

Dianne Estes, in the Student Affairs office on the Tulsa campus, will be helping you to prepare for nursing school. She will also be your contact while you are in school and throughout your program. Please find below information that should be useful in your Orientation. If you need anything along the way, please email Dianne at Dianne-Estes@ouhsc.edu.

Dates to Remember 2012 (check often for updates)

June 18	Make sure both background checks have been ordered.
June 30	Final day to submit PMTC application for Nursing Assistance
July 1	Fall 2012 Scholarship deadline Uniforms order due
Date TBD	Attend mandatory New Student Orientation 8:30 am to 1:00 pm Auditorium of the Learning Center, Tulsa Schusterman Campus, 41st and Yale
August 1	Immunizations ~ Health forms with copies of all supporting documents are due. Insurance cards ~ Copy of front and back of card American Heart Association CPR card ~ Copy of front and back of card
August 20	First day of class

Things you need to do now:

• Be sure to accept your offer of admission and submit your enrollment deposit at: www.ouhsc.edu/enrollmentdeposit
  • Clinical 101: Preparing yourself for clinical rotations
  • Background Check
    • Certified Background ~ OU code is uc18. Complete the request online and results will be sent electronically to the College of Nursing. Cost is $49.
  • Uniforms (order deadline July 1)
  • Drug Screens (refer to Drug Screen Policy) Must be renewed annually. Information will be provided at Orientation.
  • Insurance
  • Health Form (refer to Health Form Instructions) TB & CPR must be renewed annually
    • Hep B Waiver
    • Childhood Tetanus Waiver
    • Note: copies of immunizations & CPR card must be submitted.
      Original records will not be copied or returned to the student.

  • Complete HIPAA Training online.
    Email or fax a copy of your completion certificate to Dianne Estes. Fax: (918) 660-3943.
    (You must have your OUHSC email account to complete HIPAA training.)
    Note: Please keep a copy for your records. Submitted records cannot be copied.
  • Student Code of Honor (read online)
  • Student Handbook (read online)
  • Make sure your computer meets College requirements
    • IT Orientation
    • Dell Purchase Site
• Confirm your new HSC Email Account
• Complete FAFSA and apply for scholarships
• Review section below for items that must be brought to Orientation.
• Review campus maps to find your way around campus.

Things to do at Orientation

• Print, complete and bring following forms with you to Orientation.
  • Nursing Release Forms
  • HSC Risk Policy
• Textbooks (check in June for updates)
• Complete enrollment forms
• Meet current students and faculty

Things to do after orientation but before classes start

• Submit any remaining official transcripts to Dianne Estes.
  You will not be enrolled and financial aid will not be disbursed until final transcripts are received.
• Review the following:

  • Class Schedule (check routinely for updates)
  • Dress Code
  • FERPA
  • Tuition & Fees
