Associate Dean of Academic Programs

Academic Programs: The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center College of Nursing. Associate Dean for Academic Programs position available. Provides leadership in curriculum development, implementation; evaluation and program planning; strategic planning; and systematic evaluation related to Academic Programs. Develops and implements grants related to education, service-learning, and research. Collaborates with the Director of Finance and Dean to develop and oversee a budget to support the Academic Programs in coordination with distant site coordinators. Conducts faculty evaluations; develops plans for professional development and improvement plans; recommends faculty retention, promotion, and merit; and sets up Curriculum Task Forces as needed.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in Nursing or a related field.
  • Meet the criteria of Associate Professor or Full Professor.
  • Eligible for RN licensure in the State of Oklahoma.
  • Three years of teaching experience at undergraduate or graduate levels; doctoral nursing education preferred.
  • Expertise in curriculum development, evaluation, budgeting, and leadership/strategic planning.
  • Demonstrate excellence in presentations, grant writing and other scholarly endeavors.

Assistant Dean of Nursing

The College of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, invites applications for the Assistant Dean for College of Nursing's Tulsa Regional Campus. The College of Nursing is one of seven health-related colleges located at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. The campus is the state's major educational resource for health professionals in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, public health and allied health. The Graduate College is the center of advanced study, research, and creative activity in the health sciences. The primary responsibilities will be at the OUHSC Tulsa campus and will report the Dean of the College of Nursing.

Electives for the MS Education Pathway

This request seeks proposals for three credit hour electives to be offered in the Education Pathway in the MS program at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing in an asynchronous, online format. The electives should include content that would be of benefit to a nursing education pathway student and can be completed in one month.

The proposal is limited to five (5) double-spaced, typewritten pages and should include title of course, course objectives, required readings, unit outline, time table for completion of course requirements and evaluation methods.

Three electives will be selected. The faculty whose elective(s) are selected will receive $5000 for teaching an online course. Electives will be offered during December, March and April. Enrollment will be limited to 25 students.

Funding is provided by a grant administered by the Communities Foundation of Oklahomoa (see OUCN website for details).

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Site Coordinator, Lawton Program

Appointment

The Coordinator, Lawton Program, serves at the pleasure of the Dean and reports to the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and carries a 0.5 teaching load.

Responsibilities

  1. Assumes responsibility for ensuring quality of the academic programs at the Lawton Campus and Duncan distant site.
  2. Collaborates with Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Course Coordinators for class and exam schedules, course syllabi, continuity of curriculum with other campuses, other course materials, and content presentation.
  3. Maintains integrity of the Nursing Program offered at Lawton campus and Duncan site.  Also works with Assistant Dean for Distance Education and Instructional Technology to set up distance learning for Graduate Program.

 4.        Provides input in curriculum development and program planning.
 5.        Serves on committees and task forces as indicated in the Faculty Bylaws and as             appointed by the Dean.
 6.        Works with Director of Student Affairs to coordinate the recruitment, advisement, admission and enrollment of nursing students in Lawton.
7.         Fosters an environment that promotes growth in academic excellence in Southwestern Oklahoma
8.        Secures clinical sites for students’ clinical experiences.
9.        Attends meetings as needed for multi-site coordination, and other faculty meetings.
 10.      Assists with the recruitment, assignment, and retention of faculty for the Lawton Program and Duncan site.
11        Supports a climate for   students that are conducive to retention and graduation.
12.       Reviews, evaluates Lawton and Duncan program faculty and staff in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs for the purpose of faculty retention, promotion, reward, tenure, performance improvement, and development
13.       Carries a teaching load as needed.      
14.       Serves as liaison between OU College of Nursing and Cameron University and surrounding community agencies to promote interests of the OU Nursing Programs.
15.       Budgetary/Resource management- order lab supplies etc. collaborate with library for books etc.
16.       Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

1.         Master’s degree in nursing, doctorate preferred.
2.         Experience in teaching in a baccalaureate nursing program.
3.         Demonstrated competence in professional nursing practice.
4.         Effective interpersonal skills.
5.         Demonstrated leadership ability.

Donna L. Wong Professorship of Pediatric Nursing Research

Applications invited.

The College of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, invites applications and nominations for the distinguished Donna L. Wong Professorship in Pediatric Nursing Research. This position was established for the purpose of promoting, teaching, research, and clinical practice in pediatric nursing.  The professorship will be a leading nurse authority with a program of funded research in pediatric nursing with emphasis in pain assessment and management or other clinical questions related to atraumatic care.  The professorship will serve as a faculty member in the College of Nursing with the rank of Associate Professor or above, will be tenure eligible upon appointment, and will report to the Dean of the College of Nursing. The primary responsibilities will be at the OUHSC Tulsa campus.  A nationally recognized scholar with an established program of extramurally funded research focusing on Pediatric Nursing is sought for our growing College.  The Wong professorship should be committed to an ongoing active program of funded interdisciplinary clinical research with pediatric populations with special emphasis in the area of pain and to providing leadership to faculty and students in research and scholarship. Individuals should have a baccalaureate or master's degree in nursing, an earned doctorate in nursing or a related field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and tenure-eligible qualifications for the rank of associate professor or above.
