Adult Nurse Practitioner or Family Nurse Practitioner

The College of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, invites applications for a faculty position in the Adult Nurse Practitioner population focus track, Nurse Practitioner Program. This academic position requires teaching, research and/or scholarly activities, and offers opportunity for clinical practice.  Primary teaching responsibilities will take place at the OUHSC Oklahoma City campus, but travel within the state will be required for student clinical site visits. Applicants must have a master’s degree or higher in nursing, with a doctorate preferred (PhD or DNP). All applicants must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma and be nationally certified as an Adult Nurse Practitioner or as a Family Nurse Practitioner. A minimum of two years teaching experience is required.

Assistant Dean for Graduate Programs

The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs in the College of Nursing.

Nursing education at the University of Oklahoma originated in 1911 and the College of Nursing is built upon a rich tradition of innovative curricula and cutting edge research. The college produces the largest number of nursing graduates in the state and, as a national leader in distance education, offers traditional and non-traditional programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels and a variety of post-masters certificates. The College of Nursing has received national recognition including the first funding of a Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, designation as one of three 2006-2009 Centers of Excellence by the National League for Nursing and continues this designation, and selection as one of only 14 Veterans Affairs’ Nursing Academy education partnerships.

The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs will work with the academic administrative team on strategic planning for graduate professional programs. The Assistant Dean will guide the graduate faculty teaching in the Master’s degree and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs and program directors to implement the College’s strategic priorities and serve as leader for curriculum development, evaluation, revision, admissions and progressions.   The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs provides oversight regarding academic program policies and procedures and guides and supports Master’s degree and DNP program directors and work with them to develop teaching assignments.  The Assistant Dean  will monitor program budgets, recommend areas for faculty development, and facilitate generation of resources for the academic programs, faculty and students The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs will serve as liaison between graduate professional program directors and Associate Dean for Academic Programs and collaborate with  Program Directors, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and staff with regard to recruitment, admission, and retention of students to the programs.

Candidates must have licensure or be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Oklahoma; be a Senior Faculty (Associate Professor or Professor), have a graduate degree in nursing and earned doctorate; have a minimum of three years teaching at the graduate level ; have          three years academic program administration; have group consensus development and decision-making skills; and have a record of teaching, scholarly productivity and service.  Rank, tenure, and salary are competitive and commensurate with professional background and experience

Clinical Nurse Specialist

Assistant, Associate or Full Professor in Geriatric Science (Tenure-Track)

The OU College of Nursing announces an opportunity for a mid-career or senior faculty member in geriatrics to support the mission of the College and the Donald W. Reynolds Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence.  A leader in nursing education, research and practice innovations, the OU College of Nursing has received national recognition including the first funding of a nursing initiative by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation.

This position will contribute to the College and Reynolds Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence mission of teaching, research and service, and includes mentoring faculty and doctoral students in productive scholarship/leadership and maintaining an active research. Candidates with well‐established programs of research within a community-based aging in place framework and successful records of extramural research support are encouraged to inquire. Major areas of faculty research within the Reynolds Center include caregiving, cancer support and survivorship, technology and cognitive aging, symptom management, mental health, violence prevention, and palliative care.

Faculty Qualifications

Earned doctorate in nursing or a related field; focused program of research related to community‐based aging in place; a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration; and record of federally funded research.  Minimum of three years teaching experience, at least two of which in a senior college or university; if RN, must be currently licensed in the state of Oklahoma or eligible for licensure in the state of Oklahoma.

Faculty Positions - Full Time, Tenure or Non-Tenure Tracks

The College of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, invites applications for full time, tenure and non-tenure track positions.  Faculty opportunities are available immediately for candidates with clinical expertise in the following areas of nursing : Adult Acute Care; Geriatric Care, Community Health, and Maternal Child. Positions are available at our Lawton and Tulsa campuses.

Academic positions require commitment to teaching, research/scholarly activities, and service. Applicants for teaching positions in the undergraduate program must have a master’s degree or higher in nursing, with a doctorate preferred (PhD, DNP or related field). Applicants for teaching positions in the graduate program must have an earned doctoral degree. All applicants must be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma, and have a minimum 2 years of experience in clinical practice in the clinical area appropriate to appointment.  A minimum of two years teaching experience is required. Faculty appointments for these positions are made at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate or Professor level, on either tenure or non-tenure track, depending on the candidates’ academic preparation, and experience.
