International Program
Visiting Scholar Program
Integrating a global perspective within the College of Nursing requires input from a number of sources such as study/travel experiences for faculty and students to learn about the world, as well as an integration of international content within the curriculum or through interactions with international students and faculty. Another way is to host international visitors who share their life and work experiences with us. The International Visiting Scholar Program provides such an experience for our program as well as the visitors.
The International Visiting Scholar Program is open to practicing nurses, educators, or graduate students who wish to come to the University of Oklahoma and study with on-site faculty mentors in the College of Nursing. The scholars may come to learn more about neonatal nursing, distance education, to complete research studies in progress, or to work with mentors to plan a research study. These scholars will provide learning objectives for their time in residence and the International office will assist them with a J-1 visa, finding suitable housing and transportation, office space and access to University facilities such as the library. A Continuing Education certificate is awarded upon completion and a nominal monthly fee is assessed.
We have hosted International Visiting Scholars from Russia, Thailand and Taiwan.
