Nicole Taylor, of Sunray Texas, always wanted to be a nurse. According to Nicole, “My mom still has a school paper that I wrote in the third grade about wanting to be a nurse when I grew up so I could help people.” Her passion is bringing health, light, and encouragement to children through her work in nursing. As a graduate of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing, Nicole is already making her mark on the world.
As a student, Nicole served as secretary of the College of Nursing Student Association (CONSA) and was involved in numerous activities. She shares that faculty members were invested in her success – and classmates soon became lifelong friends. Since graduating with her BSN in 2016, Nicole’s path has taken her around the world.
As part of a global effort to assist communities in need, Nicole is currently participating in a group trip to visit 11 countries in 11 months – including Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia. Other sites include Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.
All of this – with a nursing degree to back her up – provides opportunity for a truly global impact. Upon returning to the United States, Nicole plans to work in a pediatric hospital setting – preferably in a pediatric oncology unit. Her passion for impacting the lives of children through nursing – and her global experience – make Nicole a perfect example of where an OU Nursing degree can take you. Congratulations, Nicole!
