Memorial Service for Florence Mubichi

It is with humble acceptance of God's will that the Mubichi family shares the passing of Prof. Florence Makandi Mubichi, wife of Mr. Stephen Mubichi Paul, mother to Fridah, Ravena and the late Miriam Mubichi. She was grandmother to Alexia Kanana Mubichi and daughter of Mrs. Alice M'Mwongo and the late Daniel Mwongo Kirima.

Florence lost her battle with cancer on the 16th of March at 1:40 pm Kenyan time. She was at her home in Meru, Kenya, surrounded by her loving family. Florence has worked as a nurse on two continents. Most recently she was an Assistant Professor of Nursing at The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing and previously on the faculty at Southwestern Oklahoma University. Prior to her work in Oklahoma a she was the Principal Tudor (Director of Nursing Education) at Maua Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in Kenya.

Friends and relatives are meeting at her home in Kaaga-Meru , in Maua (Maua Beach Hotel) and in Nairobi (San Valencia - Anniversary towers) daily. A funeral service will be held at MCK Kaaga church on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 at 11am and thereafter she will be laid to rest at her home in Mpakone village - Kaaga Meru.

On Thursday, March 25 at 1 pm a Memorial Service honoring Florence's life will be held at the Nichols Hills United Methodist Church, 1212 Bedford Drive in Nichols Hills (NW Oklahoma City). The Nightingale Tribute will be included in this service. White roses will be available in the service for all nurses as part of a special recognition honoring Florence.
