Research - Joanna Briggs Institute

The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing is one of three centers in the United States and one of four in North American. The Joanna Briggs Evidence-Based Practice of Institute of Oklahoma (JBIO) represents a partnership between three institutions—the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing, INTEGRIS Health Center, and the Veterans Administration Medical Center—who work to positively influence healthcare throughout the state of Oklahoma as well as the country.

The OUCN has an international collaboration with the Joanna Briggs Institute of Adelaide, South Australia (www.joannabriggs.edu.au/). The purpose of this center is to improve health outcomes of the Oklahoma populace through original research and translation of research to practice and education. The aim of the center is to link healthcare agencies, educational institutions, and community stakeholders with the OUCN in collaboration and resource-sharing—resources of expertise, site and funding access, finances, and technology—for the development, conduct, and use of clinical nursing research or evidence to support the College’s enterprise. The quality of nursing practiced in member service agencies will be enhanced while faculty will benefit from increased opportunities to conduct investigations and students will be offered new opportunities to participate in research. Most importantly, consumers will benefit from enhanced, better quality care.
