A didactic course focusing on adolescent and adult development, normal physiologic changes in aging, age/developmental stage appropriate screenings/health promotion/disease prevention and select episodic illnesses. Diagnostic reasoning, critical thinking, select models/theories and evidence based/best practice guidelines will be foundational. (3 credit hours)

N5573 – Management in Adult Primary Care Practicum
A clinical course focusing on relevant health history, physical examinations (complete, system and symptom-specific), relevant psychomotor skills (i.e. gynecologic, basic flat plate radiographic interpretation, EKG dysrhythmias, immobilizations) for adolescents and adults. Clinical precepted experiences will be in private practices, clinics, and occupational settings. (3 credit hours)

N5583 – Management in Adult Chronic Disease
A didactic course focusing on the diagnosis and management of chronic, multi-system and urgent/emergent conditions incorporating secondary and tertiary prevention for adolescents and adults. Diagnostic reasoning, critical thinking, select models/theories and evidence based/best practice guidelines will be foundational. Issues related to select settings (primary care settings, hospital, and home health care) and use of e-health will be explored. (3 credit hours)

N5593 – Management in Adult Chronic Disease Practicum
A clinical course focusing on care of the adolescent and adult with chronic, multi-system conditions, or urgent/emergent conditions. Psychomotor skills performed include suturing/wound closure, 12-lead interpretation, pulmonary function studies, advanced radiographic studies, etc. Clinical precepted experiences will be in primary care, hospital and home care, and the use of e-health. (3 credit hours)

N5663 – Management in Frail Adults
A didactic course focusing on developmental/physiologic changes of aging, system specific alteration associated with aging, and age/developmental stage appropriate screenings/health promotion/disease and injury prevention. Foci include function assessments, cognitive/mental assessments, sensory/communication changes, functional patterns sleep/rest, nutrition/hydration, elimination, sexuality), injury/safety assessments, pain, and poly-pharmacy. Conditions addressed are select episodic illnesses (urinary tract infection, upper respiratory infection, & anxiety) and select chronic conditions (hypertension, hypothyroidism, & depression) compared to presentations of and management for less frail adults. Issues of attitudes on aging and cultural variations of aging will be explored. Issue of institutional based care and palliative care will be explored. (3 credit hours)

N5673 – Management in Frail Adults Practicum
A clinical course focusing on aging health history, physical examination, relevant psychomotor skills, various assessments and aging related phenomena (care giver role, transition from various levels of care, autonomy). Select episodic illnesses, chronic conditions will be managed. Clinical precepted experiences will be primary care settings, home care, long term care facilities, and skilled nursing facilities. (3 credit hours)
- N5680 – Adult Nurse Practitioner Preceptorship
A variable credit hour clinical course focused on providing care to adolescents and adults, synthesizing and integrating management of those who are healthy and those with episodic illnesses, chronic conditions, geriatric syndromes, multi-system conditions, and/or urgent/emergent conditions over time and across settings. (3-5 credit hours)
- N5803 - Nurse Practitioner Roles and Practice Management
A capstone seminar role course focusing on demonstrating competence in two domains: the professional role of an advanced practice nurse and management of the Nurse Practitioner’s practice. (3 credit hours)
