  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Pathway Courses
    • N5833 - Foundations of Family Theory and Primary Health Care

    A lecture/discussion course focusing on issues, concepts, models, and theories related to family assessment, interventions, and primary health care. The role of advanced practice nurses will be examined related to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of selected problems.
    (3 credit hours)

    • N5843 - Primary Health Care for Children in the Family

      A didactic course examining the concepts focusing on the assessment, diagnosis (nursing and selected medical), management, and evaluation of primary health care for children with their families.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5853 - Primary Health Care for Children Practicum

      A clinical/practicum course focusing on health maintenance and common problems of the infant, child, and adolescent. Assessment, diagnosis (nursing and medical), management, and evaluation of care are emphasized.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5953 - Advanced Management of Children & Adolescents I

      A didactic course examining the concepts in the nursing and medical management of phenomena concerning infants, children, and adolescents. This course will expand on development, developmental theories, and screening instruments. Sexual and gynecological conditions of adolescents will be explored.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5963 - Advanced Management of Children & Adolescents Practicum I

      A practicum course in which students will demonstrate advanced proficiency in assessing, diagnosing and managing developmental, psychosocial, emotional, communication, cognitive variants &/or abnormalities of infants, children and adolescents. Select episodic illnesses, sexual and gynecological conditions will be assessed and managed.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5973-Advanced Management of Children & Adolescents II

      A didactic course examining care for children with chronic illnesses and special needs, focusing on the appropriate age and developmental assessment, diagnoses (nursing & medical), management and evaluation. Issues relating to the impact such conditions have on the family will be explored.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5983-Advanced Management of Children & Adolescents Practicum II

      A clinical practicum course focusing on children with chronic illnesses and special needs, including assessment (individual &/or family), diagnoses (medical & nursing), and management of select phenomena. Collaborative management will be emphasized, with children and adolescents.
      (3 credit hours)

    • N5994 - School Based Health Care

      A didactic and clinical practicum course focusing on health education, promotion and health care needs (primary and chronic) of children and adolescents in school settings.
      (4 credit hours)

    • N5803 - Nurse Practitioner Roles and Practice Management

      A capstone seminar role course focusing on demonstrating competence in two domains: the professional role of an advanced practice nurse and management of the Nurse Practitioner's practice.
      (3 credit hours)
