Why Create Personalized Drug Categories?
There
are so many drugs available for particular conditions such as hypertension,
back pain, and allergic rhinitis. Therefore, you may save time if you create categories
for the drugs you favor for these conditions.
Creating Personalized Drug Categories
To
create personalized categories, and then file drugs within these categories, do
the following:
1.
Open ePocrates Rx by tapping on the ePocrates Rx icon.
2.
Read the Disclaimer and click “OK”. (You may want to keep
the disclaimer visible because it shows the last time the clinical database was
updated.)
3.
Tap on "All" in the upper right corner. A
pull-down menu will appear.
4.
Tap "Edit Categories." The Edit Categories screen
will appear.
5.
Tap "New."
6.
Enter (via graffiti, onscreen keyboard, or attached
keyboard) a new category name, such as “back pain meds” and tap “OK”. (The
category name should not be longer than 15 characters.)
7.
Tap "OK" once more so you can go back to the Drug
List.
8.
Tap on the name of the drug you want to categorize. (If a
“Choose drug” window appears, look under “Please Select” and tap on the name of
the drug you wish to categorize.)
9.
Tap the Menu icon in the extreme lower left corner of your
handheld (next to the graffiti icon). This icon looks like a pull down menu
with an arrow. A pop-up box will appear at the top left of the handheld screen.
10.
Tap "Categorize" at the top left corner under the
word "Drug."
11.
When the Category Select window appears, select the category
you created to file your drug. (If you have not yet created the desired
category for your drug, you can create a new category at this time by tapping
in the Category pull-down menu and selecting "Edit Categories.")
Viewing Personalized Drug Categories
To
quickly view your personalized drug categories, open ePocrates Rx, tap
"By Class" in the lower right corner, and select your category of choice.
