What is Synchronizing or HotSyncing?

The HotSync process automatically synchronizes (exchanges and updates) data between your PDA and your desktop or laptop computer.

Using HotSync Operations

  1. Before you hotsync, make sure that
    ·        Your computer is on.
    ·        Your PDA cradle is plugged in and connected to your desktop computer.
    ·        You have installed your PDA software on your desktop computer.
  2. After performing the above, insert your PDA into the cradle; make sure the bottom edge of the PDA fits easily into the cradle.
  3. On your desktop or laptop, click on Start, All Programs, Palm Desktop, Palm Desktop.
  4. Press the HotSync button on the PDA cradle. This button has two arrows pointing towards each other.
    1. If this the first time you are doing a HotSync, enter a user name in the New User dialog box and click OK.
    2. The HotSync dialog box will appear, and show you the synchronization progress. The Pocket Mirror Monitor box may also appear, which will show you the synchronization process with Outlook and your PDA.
  5. Wait for a message on your PDA indicating that the process is complete. Then you can remove your PDA from the cradle.
