OU Nursing Faculty Receive Awards at ONA Conference

Two faculty at the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center were recognized at this year’s Oklahoma Nurses Association annual conference.  Mary Holter, DNP, APRN, CPNP was the recipient of the Nursing Impact on Public Policy Award and Carol Rogers PhD, RN, PHCNS-BC received the Excellence in Nursing Award.

Dr. Holter was instrumental in efforts to obtain prescriptive authority for nurse practitioners in the state of Oklahoma.  She was a member of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Associates task force that was asked to focus on the development of prescriptive authority for pediatric nurse practitioners.  This work resulted in the development of the organization knows today as the Association of Oklahoma Nurse Practitioners.

Dr. Rogers was honored for her creative methods of teaching research and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP).  She serves as an EBP mentor for the College where she leads a group of undergraduate nursing students in their senior year to develop and present an evident-based practice poster project at a local conference.  Rogers teaches a monthly EBP workshop to all nurses hired at the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City.

Congratulations to our OU Nursing faculty and all of the ONA award recipients!
