Clinical Instructor

April Loeffler, MS, RNC-OB, CNE

As a graduate of two OU programs and a current faculty member, April Loeffler is very fond of OU College of Nursing.  When she was a student, she found the faculty to be inspiring, challenging, and supportive.  They motivated her to work hard to be the best nurse for her patients.   As soon as Loeffler began the Family Focused Nursing course and maternal newborn clinical rotation as a nursing student in 2005, she found her calling as a labor and delivery nurse.    Currently, Loeffler teaches the Family Focused Nursing course and maternal-newborn clinical rotations for the traditional and accelerated baccalaureate students on our Tulsa campus.   In 2015, April was awarded the March of Dimes Nurse of the Year for the Women’s Health category.

“Nurses walk with people through some of the darkest, as well as the happiest, days of their lives” stated Loeffler. “This gives us the opportunity to do such meaningful work on a daily basis. I remember thinking that nursing school was one of the hardest things I had ever done in my life, and then I graduated and began that first year of working as a nurse.   Nursing is simultaneously one of the most challenging and rewarding careers, and every lecture, lab, and clinical experience is helping to prepare you for this noble work and should be approached with that in mind.  Nursing is the greatest profession!”
