DIRECTOR: CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST (CNS) PROGRAM – DNP

The Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, is seeking a dynamic and forward thinking Director of the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) Program - DNP in Nursing. Our CNS programs prepare nurse scholars who will impact the future of health care by leading interdisciplinary and translational research initiatives that integrate concepts and strategies derived from symptom management, implementation science, community-based participatory research, family centered care, and social entrepreneurship.

As a recognized expert in nursing science, the Program Director oversees every aspect of the CNS Program - DNP: from curriculum development to program evaluation, admissions and progression, and generation of resources for the program, faculty and students. As an engaged leader at the College, the Director also collaborates with administration to create and revise program curriculum, foster collaborative interdisciplinary research, and implement initiatives that support the mission, values, and strategic initiatives of the College.

Applicants must have a graduate degree in Nursing, and terminal degree, preferably in Nursing or Health Related field. All applicants must have a minimum of three years teaching experience in a CNS or related graduate nursing professional clinical program, three years of experience working as a CNS in clinical practice and three years academic administrative or program leadership experience to include experience developing/revising graduate nursing professional clinical program curricula and preparing for accreditation. Applicants must be eligible for or hold licensure as a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma, Advanced Practice Nursing Clinical Nurse Specialist (APRN-CNS) in Oklahoma and prescriptive authority license in Oklahoma.

The College of Nursing has multiple relationships with community partners including but not limited to, OU Medical Systems, Stephenson Cancer Center, Donald W. Reynolds Center for Geriatric Nursing Excellence, Jonas Foundation, Leadership Education for Health Professionals Caring for Children and Youth with Disabilities (LEND), Center on Child Abuse and Neglect (CCAN), and oversees a Case Management program for a large network of Oklahomans receiving care through the State of Oklahoma ADvantage program.

The College of Nursing is one of seven health-related colleges located at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. The campus is the state’s major educational resource for health professionals in medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, public health and allied health. The Graduate College is the center of advanced study, research, and creative activity in the health sciences.
