Faculty speaks on Health Risk Assessment

Dr. Kathleen Dwyer, University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing faculty, was an invited speaker at the recent Progressive Oklahoma Baptist State Convention [April 30th – May 4, 2016, in Oklahoma City].   She addressed the participants on the topic of “The Health of Our Community” and specifically discussed the use of health risk appraisal and health coaching as a potential strategy.   Dwyer currently has funding from the Agency on Healthcare Research and Quality to pilot a community based intervention within local faith communities.  The intervention couples a web-based health risk appraisal and indivualized health coaching over a period of 4 months to foster improvements in health and wellness.
