OUCN Alumni Association Awards
The OUCN Alumni Association is now accepting applications for the 2009 Alumni Awards. Nominations will be accepted until December 1st, 2008. Please submit all nominations to Lindsey Manning, Director of Development.
Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumnus Award was established in 2005 to honor The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing graduates who have made significant contributions to society and whose accomplishments and careers have brought credit to The University of Oklahoma College of Nursing.
ELIGIBILITY-To be considered for the award, the individual must:
- Have graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing as an undergraduate or graduate student more that 10 years ago,
- Be distinguished in the Nursing Profession and received previous recognition from contemporaries considered to be distinctive and pioneering in nature and scope,
- Provided leadership in the profession through service in local, state, or national nursing organizations, or in organizations active in the promotion of nursing,
- Provided leadership in local, state, or national government, community civic organizations or service groups,
- Have demonstrated, through word and deed, the importance of his/her education at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing,
- Must be able to accept their award in person at the College of Nursing Awards Banquet in May.
INELIGIBILITY-An individual shall be ineligible to receive the award if any of the following conditions exist at the time of nomination:
- If he/she is a candidate for public office,
- If he/she is a member of the Alumni Association’s Board of Directors,
DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI SELECTION COMMITTEE-to be comprised of a sub-committee appointed by the Alumni Association Board of Directors.

Distinguished Alumnus Service Award
The Distinguished Alumnus Service award was established in 2005 to honor those individuals who have served the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing or the Alumni Association well, and who, through their actions, have promoted the general welfare of the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing or the Alumni Association.
ELIGIBILITY-To be considered for the award, the individual must:
- Have graduated from the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing as an undergraduate or graduate student more that 10 years ago,
- Have made significant contributions, over and above those normally expected, to the College of Nursing or Alumni Association through his/her actions,
- Have participated in and served as a leader for the College of Nursing or Alumni functions,
- Have presented himself/herself as a dedicated and loyal alumnus through his/her continued interest in and support of the College of Nursing or Alumni Association,
- Be a person of such integrity and stature that the College of Nursing or Alumni Association will take pride in his/her recognition,
- Must be able to accept their award in person at the College of Nursing Awards Banquet in May.
