Thinking About Developing a Research Project?

The CNREBP provides a broad array of research services to faculty, doctoral, and post-doctoral students in the School of Nursing. Special emphasis is given to those in pre– or post-funding stages who do not have access to external support for such services. There are several things that you will need to have completed before you begin working on a major research grant. Data-based publications that are directly relevant and support the proposed research project are the first essential element. Demonstrating that you have team members already working with you on similar research is also important.

  • Supporting manuscripts—best to have 3-5 if possible.
  • Seed grant funding—best to show that a pilot study received financial support.
  • Supporting data—preliminary data supporting different segments of the proposed research.
  • Research team members—evidence that there are others willing and able to complement the project.

Other things that will help you complete a major research grant on time are a timetable and prioritizing the order for completing the development of the grant proposal.

  • Timetable for the grant
  • Prioritization of tasks to be completed.
