Student Learning Outcomes   

Per CCNE accreditation standards, successful completion of the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing Baccalaureate Degree Program prepares the graduate to:

1. Provide entry-level safe, competent, ethical care to culturally diverse individuals, families and populations across health care settings and across the lifespan.  

2. Function effectively as a member of the Nursing Profession and as a member of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.  

3. Practice professional nursing based on current evidence.  

4. Assume accountability for evaluation and improvement of nursing practice.  

5. Integrate the safe and confidential use of information technology and health care technology into one’s practice as a professional nurse.

• Prior learning assessments, i.e. CLEP or DSST
• CLEP - College Level Examination Program  
• The science GPA will be calculated from each attempt of all sciences taken.

• Items 1-5 are waived for those with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a public regionally accredited college in Oklahoma.
  • Please note that general requirements will NOT be waived for an Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Applied Art degrees.
• Items 1-6 are waived for those with a Bachelor’s degree from a US regionally accredited college or university.
• Item 4 may be met by two semesters (6-10 credit hours) of the same language in college or two years of the same language in high school with a grade of "C" or higher. A high school transcript will be required if waived using high school coursework. 

^Applicants are advised to complete a general education approved statistics course. Approved courses can be found at: http://www.ou.edu/content/gened/courses.html. Statistics courses taken at other colleges and universities should have a general education notation on the OU Transfer Equivalencies Database at: https://www.ou.edu/content/admissions/transfer_equivalencies.html.

Electives (must have earned 61 transfer hours prior to enrollment)

Two enrollment options are available based on admission term:

• Fall start, nine-month (fall, spring) full-time track
• Fall start, two-year (fall, spring, fall, spring) part-time track

FALL-START, FULL-TIME PLAN OF STUDY (9 MONTHS)

FALL SEMESTER – (15 Credit Hours)

FALL-START, PART-TIME PLAN OF STUDY (2 YEARS)

FALL SEMESTER – (7 Credit Hours)

• Valid/current Oklahoma LPN/LVN license
• Completion of 61 hours of prerequisite coursework
• 30 prerequisite hours must be completed prior to application
• All prerequisites must be completed with a grade of 'C' or better

• Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale and
• Minimum science grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
• At least two of the four required sciences must be completed prior to application

• Each attempt of any science course taken will be calculated into the science GPA, along with the four required sciences
• Exams for Advanced Standing Credit
  • Exam scores are required prior to enrollment
  • Required HESI Exams (score of 800 or higher):
    • Fundamentals of Nursing
    • Maternity / Pediatrics
    • Medical / Surgical
    • Pathophysiology
    • Pharmacology
• Please Note: The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) is on a semester credit- hour system. Students transferring coursework from an institution on trimester or quarter-hour systems should contact an advisor to determine how the coursework will transfer. OUHSC considers all coursework regardless of academic forgiveness granted by other institutions.
