- General Education Items 1-5 are waived for those with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a public regionally accredited college in Oklahoma.
- Please note that general requirements will NOT be waived for an Associate of Applied Science or Associate of Applied Art degrees.
- General Education Items 1-6 are waived for those with a Bachelor’s degree from a US regionally accredited college or university.
1 Psychology is highly recommended for pursuing nursing graduate coursework.
2 Statistics is highly recommended for pursuing nursing graduate coursework.
3 The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education require that students complete 6 hours of science (one course must be a laboratory science) in the general education core of a baccalaureate degree. These 6 hours may be fulfilled by the prerequisite sciences required by OU Nursing and/or may come from other general education science courses. However, all prerequisite sciences must be successfully completed (Chemistry, Microbiology, Human Anatomy, and Human Physiology).
4 For Human Anatomy and Human Physiology, standalone and survey courses cannot be mixed; applicants must complete Human Anatomy and Physiology I and Human Anatomy and Physiology II OR standalone Human Anatomy and Physiology.
5 For the foreign language requirement, if taken in high school, coursework must be a passing grade; if taken in college, students must earn a grade of C or higher. This requirement can be satisfied by successfully completing two semesters of the same language at the college level. It also may be satisfied by successfully completing two years of the same language in high school or by demonstrating an equivalent level of competence on an assessment test. A high school transcript will be required if waived using high school coursework.
6 Core V General Education and Core VI: Upper Division may be completed as a prerequisite or a graduation requirement.
Additional Information:
- A minimum of 60 credit hours of non-nursing coursework must be completed with a grade of C or better.
- Per OSRHE policy, students must complete a minimum of 120 credit hours for the baccalaureate degree excluding physical education courses (Policy 3.15 Undergraduate Degree Requirements).
- Remedial/developmental courses shall be coded as zero-level and collegiate-level credit may not be awarded for the completion of these courses. Remedial/developmental courses may be graded "S-U" or "P-NP" or letter graded at the discretion of the institution. Regardless of the grades awarded, remedial/developmental courses are not calculated in the GPA or CGPAs.
- Introductory Zoology and Introductory Biology are not required prerequisites for admission. They are listed above as they may be a prerequisite to our required science courses.
