Brandy D. Burgess is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City. She earned an Associate in Applied Science from Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City, a BSN and MSN from OU College of Nursing with a focus in Adult/Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), and a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the same institution.

Her primary areas of interest include critical care, pulmonary hypertension, asthma, and COPD, where much of her clinical work, research, and teaching are centered. Additional focus areas include simulation-based education, advanced practice development, and interprofessional collaboration, each emphasizing evidence-based care, patient advocacy, and student mentoring. She is nationally certified as a critical care, Adult/Gerontology CNS, Asthma Educator (AE-C), and COPD Educator (CCE), and brings more than 20 years of nursing experience to her academic and clinical roles.

Dr. Burgess is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, where she currently serves as President, and is also active in Sigma Theta Tau International and the Master's and Doctoral Student Nurses Association.
