Amy Martin is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Oklahoma Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing. She is currently working on her DNP with a focus on education. During her nursing career she worked for 20 years mainly in labor and delivery and at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital. Since graduating with her MSN in 2020, she has focused on women’s health and family planning. She still works occasionally with OSDH in Family Support and Prevention Services. Outside of her professional life, Amy Martin enjoys spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys staying active with activities like yoga, walking her dog and strength training. She is committed to being a lifelong learner and loves to share her passion for nursing with her students.


Education:

She holds an Associate of Nurse Science from OSU-OKC, Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oklahoma City University, Master of Science in Nursing from Maryville University

Clinical/Research Interests:

Her main clinical interest is women's health and family planning. She is interested in doing research in brain health and how it affects people's health and happiness.


Select Honors and Accomplishments:

She serves as an abstractor on the Oklahoma Maternal Mortality Review Committee, contributing to critical case evaluations and policy recommendations aimed at reducing preventable maternal deaths. She has her Clinician Brain Health Certification from Amen Clinics and is passionate about sharing that knowledge with others.

She has provided comprehensive care in family planning and maternity clinics across Oklahoma, with a focus on improving health outcomes for rural and underserved populations.

She is actively engaged in initiatives and community outreach efforts to address maternal health disparities and promote equitable access to quality care for women and families.

She is committed to integrating current research and public health data into patient care and systems-level maternal health improvement efforts.
