She earned her BA in Communication from Webster University (Webster Groves, Missouri) went on to earn her Master of Public Health degree at the Hudson College of Public Health at The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. In 2017, she earned her Doctor of Public Health degree from the same College. Her area of research focused on perceptions of quality among frontline workers in long-term care. With a certification as a Professional in Healthcare Quality, Julie has practiced primarily at the state and national levels to improve quality in acute and long-term care settings. Her public service includes administering a state grant-making program to enhance care in nursing homes and directing regulatory programs in non-long-term care. Throughout her career, she has always incorporated her passion for community engagement and big data. From the other parts of her career, Julie has enjoyed working with behavioral health policy, prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs among youth, and promoting well-being among frontline workers in long-term care. She is a member of the American Public Health Association, the National Association of Healthcare Quality, the Gerontological Society of America, and the Oklahoma Public Health Association.
