She is an assistant professor and program director for the Baccalaureate Program. She has a BSN from the University of Central Oklahoma and a master's in nursing education (MS) from The University of Oklahoma Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing in biobehavioral research. She is a certified registered nurse in inpatient obstetrics. She is a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and a Fellow in the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators. Her research includes labor support, social support, and stress and coping in pregnant women of low economic status. She is a member of the Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing (AWHONN), Sigma Theta Tau International, Lamaze International, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing
