I teach undergraduate through graduate-level students. My program of research has focused on health promotion and behavioral change with American Indian people. I have successfully conducted health-related research in partnership with Comanche Nation and the support of the Southwest Intertribal Health Board. I enjoy mentoring nursing students and junior faculty, particularly in development of writing skills that assist them in achieving scholarship goals.

Provost's Research Award for Junior Faculty, OUHSC, 2011.
“Native Navigation across the Cancer Continuum in Comanche Nation,” (R15 NR012195) 4/1/10-8/31/13. The goal of this project was to test Goal Attainment Scaling to assist the Comanche Nation in refining, expanding and adapting various navigator models currently used in other Native American communities to address the community’s and patients’ needs across the continuum of cancer care. Role: Principal Investigator. Project named by grant staff: “Navigation for Indian Health.”
