Dear OU Community,

Today, I’m excited to share with you the launch of OU Health – a new, unified brand identity for the combined clinical enterprises of the OU Health Sciences Center (OUHSC) and our hospital partner. The OU Health brand captures over a century of providing unmatched patient care, advancing scientific discovery, and training Oklahoma’s health care workforce – all marked by our distinction as the state’s only comprehensive academic health system. At OU Health, our patients have unique access to the application of OUHSC’s research, as well as the greatest number of specialist and subspecialist doctors and health professionals in the state. These resources power OU Health into fulfilling our purpose of changing lives.

The shift to the OU Health brand is a milestone years in the making. In February 2018, our hospital partner transitioned from being managed and operated by an out-of-state, for-profit health care organization to becoming an Oklahoma-owned, nonprofit institution known internally as OUMI. Since this transition, we have worked with OUMI to sharpen our focus on providing the best possible patient care and experience. Our ongoing collaborative efforts have brought us to today

OU Health, as a brand, underscores a deliberate shift from emphasizing medicine, an agent used to achieve positive outcomes, to health, the ultimate path to changing lives. This branding shift will further strengthen our reputation in an increasingly competitive patient market, generating a cascade of benefits. OU Health will bring with it improved patient outcomes, elevation of our research and teaching efforts, and benefits beyond.

The OU Health identity will attach to the complete span of our academic health clinical enterprise in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. This will include all hospital names, the OU Health Sciences Center faculty practices, and all centers. This brand transition will be phased in over time, ultimately simplifying our patients’ and the public’s ability to interact with OU Health. To learn more, I invite you to read on here and at www.OUHealth.com, a new website that will allow patients to quickly find doctors, health services, hospital and clinic locations, and more.

For well over a century, we have provided essential care to generations of Oklahomans. OU Health encapsulates this legacy, perfectly articulating our university’s core purpose of changing lives. With the advent of OU Health, we enjoy an exciting momentum that will propel us to achieve greater heights than we once thought possible.

Live On, University,

Joseph Harroz, Jr.
President
