Alumni from the University Of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing were honored at the Great 100 Nurses Foundation event on September 10. Nominations were based on those who have exemplified concern for humanity, dedication to nursing, and have mentored others. Proceeds raised from the celebration are used to honor the nurse recipients, support nursing advocacy, scholarships, research and publication of nursing discoveries.
“Our alumni impact daily the health care around the state, the nation, and the world. This prestigious award bestowed upon 21 of our alumni is a testament to this impact. I was happy and proud to be able to celebrate their accomplishments with them this week,” said Gary L. Loving, interim dean of the College of Nursing.
We are proud of our alumni and other nurses honored for their dedication to the nursing profession. Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing alumni honored: Bryan Anderson, Grace Bedford, Susan Bedwell, Amanda Bobo, Carolyn Clark, Shannon Fanning, Rhonda Farris, Rachelle Hawk, Maryavis Howell, Pam Jackson, Jamie Kilpatrick, Rebecca Loving, Kammie Monarch, Rebel Nelson, Darrin Nobis, Judy Owen, Victoria Robertson, Terri Sharp, Diana Sturdevant, Kris Wallace and Sharon Wengier.
The Great 100 Nurses Foundation was founded by PK Scheerle, RN in New Orleans, Louisiana thirty-two years ago. Since its founding, the Great 100 Celebrations have honored thousands of Nurses across Louisiana, North Carolina, Texas, Oklahoma and now Arkansas! These exemplary Nurses are selected based on their concern for humanity, their contributions to the profession of Nursing, and their mentoring of others. It is a great honor in the life of the Nurse to be selected as a Great 100 Honoree and our Foundation helps each RN recognize themselves as Nurse Heroes.
