Over $1 Million Awarded in Student Scholarships for Academic Year 23-24

Published: Thursday, October 5, 2023

The Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center has awarded more than $1.1 million in student scholarships for the 2023-2024 academic year.  Awardees include students from undergraduate and graduate programs.  “Having the ability to focus on my education and worry less about my family's financial needs being met at the same time is a gift like no other. I am so grateful to receive this gift, thank you,” says Kali DeYager, Frances E. & A. Earl Ziegler Accelerated Nursing Scholarship recipient. The funding for these scholarships came from private donors, foundations, and grants targets to provide financial support to advanced practice nursing students. "We appreciate the generosity of all our donors, first and foremost Fran and Earl Ziegler, whose generosity and leadership paved the way for many others to follow," stated dean Julie Anne Hoff.

This much-needed scholarship funding builds on the College of Nursing’s momentum of recently expanded admissions. OU is home to the largest nursing program in Oklahoma. For the last two fall semesters, the OU College of Nursing has admitted all qualified applicants to its Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, resulting in a 73% increase in enrollment, compared to fall 2020.
