Kacy Aderhold is an advanced practice registered nurse, clinical nurse specialist with a joint role as clinical assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma's Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing and as a provider at OU Health's Harold Hamm Diabetes Center in adult endocrinology. She has a passion for education with a special interest in interprofessional education and working with underserved populations. Kacy serves as faculty across nursing programs from undergraduate to doctoral courses. She has delivered numerous diabetes and cardiometabolic-related presentations at the international, national, local, and university levels.


Education:

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, a Master of Science in Nursing Clinical Nurse Specialist, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Oklahoma.


Board Certification(s):

She holds an advanced practice board certification for adult-gerontology clinical nurse specialist from the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is board-certified in advanced diabetes management and is a certified diabetes care and education specialist, both from the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists.


Clinical/Research Interests:

Kacy is the principal investigator on a student-delivered diabetes education project and clinician on a team science study investigating semaglutide and tobacco use. She co-authored a publication on nursing trauma and coping.


Select Honors and Accomplishments:

Kacy was nationally recognized with the Advancing the Vision Award in 2025 by the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and was a Great 100 Nurses of Oklahoma Award recipient in 2024. She was also recognized with the Unity Clinic Champion Award in 2022.

Kacy is the immediate past-president for the Oklahoma Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists and serves on national committees for the National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists and the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists.
