Mark J. Fisher, PhD, RN, CNE is an Assistant Professor in the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). He has a multilayered business background along with over two decades of higher education experience where he conducts active learning activities, lectures, facilitates and debriefs clinical-focused simulations, and guides learners in the in-patient clinical setting. He serves as faculty with several graduate and undergraduate nursing and interdisciplinary education courses or programs on the OUHSC campus. He has delivered over 90 presentations focused primarily on communication in healthcare at the international, national, regional, and local levels.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Bentley University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Baylor University, a Master of Science in nursing education from University of Oklahoma, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from Indiana University.

Clinical/Research Interests:
His primary area of interest is parent-provider communication where most of his education, scholarship, and service activities are focused. Two additional areas of his concentrated work include pediatric clinical education and interprofessional education where parent-advocacy and student-advocacy play vital roles. He is a Certified Nurse Educator with over 20 years of education experience who consistently looks to bring humanity and empathy into all of his work.
