Jennifer Thurston, MSN, RN, CHSE is an Instructor in the Fran and Earl Ziegler College of Nursing at the University of Oklahoma. She has worked as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oklahoma for more than 20 years, with most of her clinical experience in cardiac critical care. She has been teaching undergraduate nursing students in the classroom, skills lab, simulation, and clinical settings for 10 of those years.
Education:
She earned an Associates Degree in Nursing from Oklahoma City Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from University of Phoenix, and a Master's Degree in Nursing Education from Oklahoma Baptist University. She is currently pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Nursing Education from Arkansas State University.

She has a passion for game-based learning in healthcare education. She believes that teaching and learning should be transformative, energizing, and fun!
Select Honors and Accomplishments:
She is an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor and an American College of Surgeons Stop the Bleed Instructor. She has been selected by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing to serve as an item writer for the NCLEX-RN licensure examination. She received the Oklahoma City Community College Division of Health Professions Outstanding Faculty Award in 2018 and was the founding member and President of a non-profit organization that received the OU Medical Center Trauma Services Friend of Trauma Award in 2014.
